posted on 21 December 2011

Using a tracking system for your company is a huge leap. It is a big decision that must be made with utmost care. If you know some colleagues who have also used a particular system for their logistics unit, it would be best to consult with them for possible referrals. This way you can be assured that you are getting the right partner for your needs too. What most businesses concern themselves with these days is establishing and using the right GPS tracking system. If you are also in the use of heavy logistics in your business then this is something that you should also seriously consider. You can solve this by buying gadgets and vehicles already equipped with the said tracking device. When looking for a company that can customize your tracking system, stick with the ones that have already done work for a business such as yours. This way you can be sure that they are familiar with the specifics that you need.

Van Drivers: Helpful to Travelers and Visitors

posted on 15 September 2011

Recently, I had a business trip to Chicago and flew into O'Hare airport. I was feeling very overwhelmed and a little worried about finding my way. I was staying at a local hotel that provided a van shuttle service from the airport to the hotel. These had van roof bars for extra luggage. I exited the airport and quickly found the shuttle stop and soon the van arrived. As soon as I stepped into the van, I felt at ease. The van driver took my bag to stow away and then asked me how things were going. I told him it was my first trip to Chicago and he gave me so many tips about what to see, what restaurants to go to and things to be aware of. On our short ride from the airport to the hotel, I felt like I made a new friend. Not only that, but he was an excellent driver and very attentive to all the traffic around him. I felt safe and secure knowing I had an experienced van driver to get me safely where I wanted to go.

The protective nature of fathers and how they are unchanging

posted on 22 July 2011

My father calls me his little girl and I do not think that will ever change because that is how he sees me. He is a brilliant man and I respect him. I have to admit that there are times when I have felt his affection to be too much and have said to him really meant hings that I have later apologized for saying because they happened to really hurt his feelings. Every time I do something like that, he takes out my baby album and looks at it and that always makes me feel guilty. He is the one who has taught me how to drive and my road rage is totally from him. When I was a learner driver he was the designated driver at all times. And the times he would let me drive, he would yell at all the motorists who gave me a hard time on the road. All I can say is that he is an awesome person and I love him really much, I do not know what I could ever do without him because he is awesome, even when he calls me his little girl in front of my friends.

A Woman with a Van in America

During the financial downturn I was made redundant. It was a huge shock. I needed another job so thought I would register as a self employed courier which involved driving a commercial vehicle delivering parcels to commercial and private premises. It is marvelous. It enables me to choose my own hours and don't have to work for a boss. I no longer have to work with horrible employees who can make working life rather unpleasant. My working day normally commences at 8am and I don't finish until 6pm. This suits me fine as I enjoy driving, and love kitting out the van with all kinds of accessories, including van roof racks. The only element which can be slightly frustrating is when I deliver items to residential addresses and the occupants have vacated the premises. This normally means I have to make an extra trip to the post office. Fortunately this doesn't occur often. I will be doing this job for some time as there is always an abundance of work available.

Most Thrilling and Unforgettable Work Experience of My Life

posted on 15 May 2011

The best job I ever did was a consulting job for Johnson & Johnson, NJ. I worked for 2 years with them on SAP Financials. I'd had a colorful work experience prior to this - from selling roof racks with rollers to taxi driving! You see, as an undergraduate, I was willing to do all kinds of work. Anyway, this SAP job was an implementation project. I enjoyed the work culture at the company. We had a great team and all of us were very responsible. There was co-operation amongst team members and we use to work together on all issues. Our supervisor had given us a lot of flexibility and showed a lot of confidence on our capabilities. We used to have a lot of meetings to understand the business requirements and propose a solution to incorporate those in our system. The company is very well organized and has got good transparent policies. It takes very good care of its employees. There is a local store within the premises where we get all J&J products at a discounted price. There is a Christmas lunch kept in December for all employees and contractors. I enjoyed my job with the company and is one of the most memorable work experiences for me.

Truck Tracking with GPS Technology

posted on 27 April 2011

The use of GPS tracking systems for truck tracking has come a long way from its humble beginnings some 17 years ago as a typical locator and has paved the way for organizations to improve efficiency, productivity and accountability. One of the main functionality of GPS tracking systems for truck tracking is the use of triggers and alerts. Operators of the GPS tracking systems may set alerts that are then triggered by certain events and/or conditions. A straight forward application is the Speed Limit Alert that may be set based on various locations, road type, and weather conditions and should these limits be exceeded, the system alerts the operators of this and can take the necessary action for driver and cargo safety. Geographic boundaries may be electronically defined and again operators are alerted when triggered as drivers veer of course and go beyond the defined boundaries. As a result, moonlighting and side jobs have been dramatically reduced as well as pilferage in terms of time and fuel consumed by these moonlighting jobs.

Auto Insurance Rate Does Your Occupation Really Affect It?

posted on 10 March 2011

Why do insurers ask about your line of duty when you are completing forms for rate quotes? It's simply because it will help them determine whether you deserve to get a very cheap auto insurance rate. But why your profession? Over time, insurers have discovered patterns that are consistent. One of those patterns happens to be along professional lines. They've discovered that there are professions that are usually high risks and others that are usually low risks. For example, scientists, pilots and people in this category are known to exhibit patterns that make them very safe drivers and, therefore, very good risks. However, on the other hand, attorneys, business owners and people who tend to drive a lot and have a lot of stress because of their jobs tend to be bad risks. Is there anything you can do about this other than changing to another line of work? Yes. Even though there might be a bias against your line of duty, you can take deliberate steps to prove that you are an outlier over time.

In order for anyone to be allowed to drive a car, there is a process that they are supposed to go through and if they do not successfully complete it, then they will not be able to be allowed on the roads and if they are found driving without the right documents and certification, then they will be penalized for that. Students in high school are supposed to take a drivers education class. This is where they actually learn what driving is all about. They are taught how to steer the car and balance well while driving. When they pass for this class, they are then they can go ahead and get a permit for driving. Before they get given their drivers license, they have to go through a booking theory test. This is going make sure that responsible people are being put on the road. They do not want to take any chances of lives of human beings is at stake here. Just because you can drive a car, it does not mean that you know the rules of the road. Without such knowledge, you will be putting people life in danger by being on the road.
